Swim Meet Round-Up

Since the Holiday Break, we have competed at numerous meets from the NovaTech level to AAA competition and beyond!  We’ve continued to see high levels of performance in the most recent months from all of our swimmers and have concluded this racing period at the Swim Nova Scotia AA Championships and David Fry East Coast Championships!

Club records:

At the first AAA Long Course Development meet, 2 club records were broken. Brody MacPherson broke the 13-14 boys 50m Breaststroke record with a 33.67, previously held by Sean Berrigan since 2011. Ainsley MacPherson set the 10&u girls 50m Fly record at 35.38, which was previously set by Grace Zhou in 2023.

The next LC AAA Development meet both Ainsley and Brody MacPherson broke additional club records. Ainsley set the 10&u girls 100m Fly record at 1:23.32, taking it down from 1:24.43. Brody broke a 31 year old club record in the 13-14 boys 100m Breaststroke with a 1:12.71!

At the David Fry East Coast Champs, Ainsley and Brody continued their record breaking streak with a total of 7 new club records. Brody broke the 13-14 boys 200 Breaststroke with a 2:37.06, the 50 Breaststroke with a 33.00 in prelims, then a 32.59 in finals. Ainsley broke the 10&u girls 50 Back with a 37.96, the 100  Breast with a 1:34.61 in prelims and 1:31.43 in finals, and the 50 Fly with a 34.25.

Well done Crusaders!

AA Championships:

AA swimmers from the Blue, Gold, Junior, and Senior groups competed at their championship meet held at Acadia from February 23-25. The team walked away with a total of 13 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 18 bronze medals! Many swimmers experienced the chance to swim in finals, both individually, and on relays, providing plenty of chances to to represent the Crusaders! At the conclusion of the meet, Nadav Arie was named the 12&u High Point Male, while Bryce Hoddinott was the runner-up. Additionally, the meet saw Nadav and Pippa Fulmer attain AAA times and qualified to race at the East Coast Champs the following weekend.

David Fry East Coast Champs:

AAA swimmers carried forward the momentum developed at Acadia into their championship meet at Dalplex from February 29 - March 3. The Crusaders won a total of 15 gold medals, 11 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals while competing against teams from all over Atlantic Canada! The boys team came together to be the High Point Male Team at the meet, an award that we have not held since 2015! The Crusaders finished the meet with a 4th place team finish, and saw Brody earn the High Point 13&u Male award, while Alex Jonsen-Humble earned the High Point 16&o Male award!
